Centrifugal pumps operate by utilising a rotating impeller immersed in a liquid. As the impeller spins, it adds kinetic energy to the fluid, causing it to flow outward due to centrifugal force, which increases fluid pressure.
Critical components of a centrifugal pump include:
- Casing: A sealed chamber surrounding the impeller and directing the liquid flow.
- Impeller: A rotating part with blades or vanes that imparts kinetic energy to the fluid.
- Shaft: A rotating rod that connects the impeller to the motor and transmits power.
