Details

Brown rock salt is used for winter maintenance gritting and will ensure that high footfall areas are clear of snow and ice and alleviate icy slips and falls. Brown salt is best suited for spreading across large areas such as open public spaces and is a more cost-effective option in large volumes.

Our rock salt meets BS 3247 which is the British standard for de-icing salt. Our salt is the same quality as used by councils, local authorities and Highways England.

The rock salt is treated with an anti-caking agent which makes the salt free-flowing and suitable for use in salt spreaders. It also helps to prevent the salt from solidifying during long term storage.

Rock salt is the most common form of ‘grit’ that is widely used within the UK for winter maintenance. As rock salt has a lower freezing temperature than water, it has the ability to prevent ice developing on public walkways, roads, car parks etc. The benefits of brown rock salt are that it is a drier form of grit which enables easier spreading. It also has a lower carbon footprint than alternatives.

Buying 1 tonne of rock salt creates huge savings! Unlike other suppliers, we supply a full 1000kg bag of rock salt and our prices will not change during the winter season. Prices quoted are for UK mainland delivery, please contact us delivery to other locations.

Features

  • British mined product
  • Low carbon footprint
  • Allows easy spreading

The 1-tonne bag of rock salt is delivered on a pallet by a vehicle with a tail lift and trolley jack.

Delivery Restrictions - Important

Please make sure you let us know of any delivery restrictions (weak bridges, narrow lanes, low bridges etc) when you place your order. By doing this, we can then make sure that your delivery of rock salt is delivered on a suitable vehicle. Failure to notify us of any such restrictions may result in a surcharge and possible delay of delivery.

Due to the size and weight of the delivery lorries (potentially weighing up to 44 tonnes), we require you to confirm the delivery area is flat, and the ground is stable and able to handle the weight of the vehicle. We cannot deliver on sloping ground, as the tail lift must be able to lay flat on the ground.

Please note that all products are delivered to the kerbside by a tail lift lorry, and our couriers are unable to deliver to a specific location on your property. All aggregates will require a signature upon delivery.
