The Fork Mounted Low-Profile Extending Jib is designed for lifting and manoeuvring long, awkward, or hard-to-reach loads in environments where space is limited. Like the standard Low-Profile Jib, it allows operators to handle loads from inaccessible locations, but with the added versatility of up to ten adjustable lifting positions. This version also features two swivel hooks and bow shackles, enabling operators to “cradle” the load for added stability and control during lifting operations.
Operation is straightforward and secure. The forklift forks are positioned to match the fork pockets, and the heel pins are removed prior to inserting the forks fully into the pockets. Once in place, the heel pins are reinserted directly behind the fork heels and secured with safety lynch pins. The swivel hooks and shackles can then be positioned at the desired lifting points and tightened to ensure safe handling. To extend or retract the boom, the ‘T’ bar locating pin is removed, the boom is pushed or pulled until the holes align, and the pin is replaced. After these steps, the attachment is ready for immediate use.
Built for durability and practicality, the jib features multi-hook positioning from 500 mm to 3000 mm load centres, four-way pocket entry for easy storage, and zinc-plated heel pins for secure attachment to the forklift. It accommodates fork sections up to 150 × 50 mm at 281 mm centres and is finished in bright orange for high visibility and enhanced safety in busy industrial settings.
Regular maintenance and safety checks are essential for reliable performance. The attachment should be inspected weekly, with attention to weld points, fork pockets, heel pins, swivel hooks, shackles, and the extending boom. Any damage or wear must be addressed immediately, and general surface rust should be treated with appropriate primers, inhibitors, and paint. Certified for six months from the date of manufacture, the jib must be re-tested or inspected by a competent person after this period, as advised by HSE guidelines.
Health and safety are paramount when using the extending jib. Operators must be fully trained in its use, and both the forklift and attachment must be capable of handling the intended loads. Vertical lifts only are permitted, with no angular or shock loading, and the safe working load must never be exceeded. Ensuring correct fitting of heel pins, proper tightening of shackle pins, and careful operation will maintain safe and efficient performance during every lift.
